After the racially motivated mass shooting at Tops on May 14, 2022, some of the feedback we received from the community was the desire for mental health treatment that could be provided by clinicians with a shared cultural background as the people requesting support. When several funders stepped forward and asked to help, Say Yes Buffalo identified a community partner in Healing Hub of New York to create a unique program to fill this need.
“Building Capacity for Clinicians of Color” is currently in its first cohort of fifteen mental health professionals of color who need help and resources to take the appropriate steps in increase their accreditation and business acumen to expand their own career horizons in the field.
You can learn more about the program in the Buffalo News, here, or watch and read this report from WKBW.
